Crafting joy, a Companis tradition

Dec 19, 2024

What happens when a ‘master crafter’ brings their inspiring skills to our Companis Worker Holiday party? The room overflows with people having fun and making connections.

Patrick Green is a holiday tradition for our Companis community. The former longtime Companis volunteer thrills at the opportunity to share the joy of arts and crafts with others. Patrick (seen above with volunteers Inola de la Cruz and Clare Stemmer) has led the ‘craft cabin’ for many years at Camp Burton on Vashon Island, which attracts groups of all kinds to their beautiful and historic campus on the Salish Sea. When he visits Companis in December, we know it will be a full house!

At our December 11th Holiday Party, Companis Workers and staff learned to make a variety of crafts, including painted ornaments, decorative wood chests, delightful gnomes and more. Thank you, Patrick, for sharing your joy and creative talents with the Companis community. Everyone leaves with something to treasure, and with our volunteers, that’s often a new friend.

Nona Clifton, a volunteer coordinator placed with MercyWatch, and Viola Eldred, who serves Diverse Harmony and Queer Power Alliance, share their treasures.
Erin Hennessey, a Companis champion, and Golden Davenport, placed with Sports In Schools, make marbled-paint ornaments.
Brigita Rumung, a recent placement with Mwanzo, with her gnome creations.
Terrie Deidesheimer, placed with Sound Generations, and Theresa Pruett, grant writer for The Access Project and Companis, creating their gnomes.
