Oct 2, 2024

Companis is excited to welcome our new Associate E.D. for Programs, Jillian Harmon. She brings extensive volunteer matching and management to her role directing our program. Jillian began her new role October 1st, and will be based mostly in our Seattle office, directing placements in King County, while working closely with Tia Lawson, Program Manager for our Snohomish County efforts. Reach out to Jillian if you’d like to learn more about volunteering through Companis. She tells you more below about her background in this personal greeting.

Jillian writes:

Hello Companis community! I’m Jillian Harmon, and I’m thrilled to join this incredible organization as we embark on our next 30 years of impact. My journey in the nonprofit world has been driven by a passion for empowering people to make positive changes in their communities – a passion ignited during my youth involvement in Key Club and has blossomed into a career dedicated to amplifying opportunities for others.

A bit about me: I’m originally from upstate New York and spent eight wonderful years in Chicago before falling in love with Seattle and making it my home. From my four years directing programs and matching community volunteers with student invention teams at Project Invent to supporting youth empowerment programming at WE Charity, I’ve focused my career on creating impactful, purpose-driven programming that brings communities together.

Since moving to Seattle, I have been continually inspired by our region’s rich culture and impressive legacy of civic engagement. Recently, I had the privilege of volunteering with Jubilee Women’s Center for over six months, an experience that immersed me deeply in Seattle’s vibrant nonprofit ecosystem. This opportunity reinforced my belief in the power of volunteerism to not only support the capacity of nonprofits but also to make our communities more vibrant, connected, and just.

I’m excited to champion Companis’ mission of fostering vital connections between passionate volunteers and the organizations that need them most. I look forward to working alongside all of you – our volunteers, community partners, our board members, and community supporters – as we continue to ignite meaningful, positive change in our community.
