Every year we celebrate our donors and advocates with a program we call Spotlight, a place to share nourishment of the body and mind. And this year’s event saw more than a hundred people turn out for Companis Spotlight at Ivar’s Salmon House in Seattle. Our focus on health and shelter welcomed two key partner agency leaders: Kathleen Wilcox, Executive Director of African Americans Reach & Teach Health (AARTH), and Alyson Moon, Director of Community Impact at Mary’s Place. Kathleen shared how AARTH addresses health disparities and inequities in healthcare services for people of African descent. And Alyson talked about the growing number of people in our region who are in dire need of shelter, including families with young children. Our featured speakers also shared how Companis plays an important role in finding skilled volunteer professionals who help them do their work. That includes Companis Worker Muriel Jones M.D. who has been volunteering at Mary’s Place for seven years (see picture below with Alyson and Muriel).
Thanks to all who attended and see you again at Showcase, our annual fundraising event at Town Hall Seattle on November 10th!
