Companis Connects

A Big Thank You From Companis!

Thank you for standing with Companis to deliver more than $1 million in services in 2017!

Companis is proud of more than two decades of outreach to our most vulnerable neighbors. We know that lives are transformed and our community is healed by the presence of Companis volunteers in homeless shelters and prevention programs, immigrant services centers, LGBT programs, medical clinics and more.

We will continue to stand up for ALL our neighbors in 2018, including those most at risk in our changing world.

Our Healthy Communities Celebration Dinner Was a Big Success!

Together we raised $259,295!

And that's a big number! Because every dollar raised at our Companis 2017 Healthy Communities Celebration Dinner on Nov. 2nd returns $5.71 in services to our homeless neighbors, those suffering from addiction and mental illness, immigrants & refugees, youth, seniors and LGBT people.

Celebrating July 4th with our homeless neighbors

Companis celebrated July 4th with more than 500 of our neighbors, many of whom are currently experiencing homelessness. The 7th Annual Independence Day Picnic BBQ co-sponsored by Companis and Seattle First Baptist Church, benefitted from the many hands, loving hearts and dedication of more than 70 volunteers. They served 502 meals yesterday, with warm smiles, and three stylists offered free haircuts to more than 60 guests! Dozens found assistance through the referrals and resources table staffed by Companis Workers Alanna Gunne, Martha Hopler, Barbara Sehr and Catherine Fales.

We're thrilled to welcome Companis Workers Tesfa Melaku and Alanna Gunne to placements with Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle/King County. Tesfa, an attorney in her native Ethiopia, has worked as legal counsel and social worker for international adoption programs.

Rembering Amber, a big part of the Companis community

With heavy hearts we share with you that our dear friend and longtime Companis Worker Amber Joy passed away July 26th. Amber was surrounded by her family and close friends as she died, peacefully and utterly present with those who were with her, radiating love.

Companis Connects: Conflict De-escalation training

At a time when tensions are running high and lots of folks are feeling stressed, we want to be sure that Companis Workers, often on the front lines of service to our most vulnerable neighbors, are well-resourced in the area of conflict de-escalation. We are very pleased to welcome Kristine Scott, E.D. of ROOTS Young Adult Shelter in the University District, to share her experience with us. In this training, you will learn:
